Wilene "Sally Ann" Forrester

Wilene "Sally Ann" Forrester (1922–1999), known as "Billie," was an American accordionist, multi-instrumentalist, and the pioneering first woman to perform as a member of Bill Monroe's Blue Grass Boys. Often recognized as the "original Blue Grass Girl," she performed, toured, and recorded with the band from 1943 to 1946, playing accordion on Monroe's seminal 1945 Columbia records like "Rocky Road Blues" and "Footprints in the Snow," and was on stage for Earl Scruggs's historic December 1945 debut at the Ryman Auditorium.
