Williams & Bray

Bands / Ensembles

Williams & Bray was a bluegrass band from Seattle, Washington, made up of fiddler Vivian Williams, her husband Phil Williams, banjo player Harley Bray and guitarist Shera Bray. The band grew out of the Friends of Sally Johnson, which formed in the mid-1980s from jam sessions involving the Williamses, the Brays, mandolinist Barry Brower and John Welch. After Brower left in 1990 the group became known as Williams and Bray, usually with Nancy Katz or Judith Webster Gold on bass, and it stayed active for more than two decades.
