Vassar Clements
Vassar Clements (April 25, 1928 – August 16, 2005) was an American fiddler, born in South Carolina and raised in Florida, who joined Bill Monroe's Blue Grass Boys as a teenager in 1949. He went on to play with Jim & Jesse, Faron Young, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's Will the Circle Be Unbroken, and Old & In the Way. His improvising across bluegrass, swing, jazz, and rock earned him the nickname "father of hillbilly jazz."
