Vallie Cain
Vallie Cain (1927–1993), born Vallie R. Cave, was an American bluegrass guitarist and vocalist who, alongside her husband James "Benny" Cain, fronted the long-running Washington, D.C. area ensemble Benny and Vallie Cain and the Country Clan. Over a four-decade career beginning in 1947, the duo served as foundational pioneers of the capital region's bluegrass scene, performing a distinct, old-time harmony style and recording multiple studio singles and full-length LPs for Rebel Records, including Benny and Vallie Cain (1968) and More of Benny and Vallie Cain (1974).
