Tom Rozum
Tom Rozum (1951–) is an American bluegrass mandolinist, singer, and multi-instrumentalist. Born and raised in Connecticut, he transitioned from a self-taught electric guitar player to bluegrass, old-time, and Western swing after studying biology in Boston. He performed across the Southwest and California with eclectic string bands, including Summerdog in Arizona and the jazz-inflected Rhythm Rascals in San Diego. He relocated to Berkeley, California, to join the Grant Street String Band in 1986, initiating a multi-decade musical partnership with vocalist and fiddler Laurie Lewis. As a featured vocalist and primary mandolinist on Lewis’s extensive catalog, he earned a Grammy Award nomination in the Best Traditional Folk Album category for their 1996 collaborative duet project, The Oak and the Laurel.
