Tom Diamant
Tom Diamant (born October 31, 1946) is an American record producer, radio broadcaster, and music executive who co-founded the independent label Kaleidoscope Records in El Cerrito, California, in 1976. Alongside co-owner Jeff Alexson, Diamant managed the label's releases by contemporary acoustic and folk artists, including the David Grisman Quintet and singer-songwriter Kate Wolf, while also producing and distributing the acclaimed multi-volume reissue series of historical 1940s western swing recordings by Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys known as The Tiffany Transcriptions. Following the sale of Kaleidoscope to Rhino Records in 1992, he continued to preserve traditional American music as an executive board member of the Arhoolie Foundation, launched Flat Rock Records to issue archival folk tapes, and maintained a multi-decade run as the host of the traditional roots and bluegrass radio program Panhandle Country on KPFA-FM in Berkeley.
