Skoal (tobacco)

Stores / Businesses

Skoal is a moist smokeless tobacco brand introduced in 1934 by the U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company, now part of Altria, as the first wintergreen-flavored dipping tobacco. Its name is an anglicized form of the Scandinavian toast skål. Over the decades the brand added long cut, pouches, the small-pouch Skoal Bandits (1983), and many flavors. Skoal was a major NASCAR sponsor in the 1980s and 1990s, ran radio ads featuring Charlie Daniels, and is named in songs by Brad Paisley, Eric Church, Toby Keith, and others.
