Red Smith

Bob "Red" Smith (died 2004) was a bluegrass multi-instrumentalist, singer, and business owner. He co-founded the Station Inn in 1974 alongside his wife, Birdie Lee Smith, and five other acoustic musicians: Jim Bornstein, Bob and Ingrid Fowler, and Marty and Charmaine Lanham. Located initially near Centennial Park and Vanderbilt University, the venue operated as a cooperative clubhouse and coffeehouse-style space. Smith played in The Original Station Inn Band who provided the regular live entertainment and managed nightly operations.
