Ramona Jones
Ramona Jones (January 28, 1924–November 17, 2015), born Ramona Riggins, was an American old-time country fiddler, multi-instrumentalist, and vocalist. Born and raised in Indiana, she learned the fiddle from her father before teaching herself the mandolin, guitar, and bass. She married country entertainer Louis Marshall "Grandpa" Jones in 1946. The duo moved to Nashville in 1947, performing as staples on the Grand Ole Opry and touring globally, including entertaining frontline troops during the Korean War. Between 1969 and 1994, she served as a regular cast member and musical performer on the long-running television show Hee Haw. In addition to her work with her husband, she maintained a solo recording career, releasing traditional acoustic albums such as Back Porch Fiddlin' (1976) and Lady's Fancy (1986). She managed the Grandpa Jones Family Dinner Theater in Mountain View, Arkansas, and published her autobiography, Make Music While You Can, in 2000.
