Prairie Home Companion
Media / Broadcast
A Prairie Home Companion was Garrison Keillor's live Saturday-evening radio variety show, launched on Minnesota Public Radio on July 6, 1974, and broadcast for decades from St. Paul's Fitzgerald Theater. Its mix of storytelling, comedy sketches, and folk, country, gospel, and bluegrass guests, reached four million weekly listeners before mandolinist Chris Thile took over as host in 2016 and carried it on as Live from Here until 2020.
