Pick ’n’ Grin

Stores / Businesses

Pick 'n' Grin was a Knoxville, Tennessee, music store that opened in May 1975 and specialized in stringed instruments. It sold banjos, mandolins, guitars, basses, dobros, fiddles, dulcimers, and autoharps. At its peak the store had about 600 students taking private lessons each week. It was run by Bud Brewster and his daughter Tami. After 40 years, they closed the West Knoxville storefront and moved sales online, citing the strain of running a store and competition from internet dealers.
