Old Crow Medicine Show

Bands / Ensembles

Old Crow Medicine Show (1998–present) is an old-time and a string band based in Nashville, Tennessee, founded by Ketch Secor and Chris "Critter" Fuqua, who met in seventh grade in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The band began in 1998, busking on street corners in upstate New York and across Canada. In 2000, while the members were busking outside a pharmacy in Boone, North Carolina, Doc Watson heard them and invited them to play MerleFest, which launched their career. The band moved to Nashville in October 2000 and made its Opry debut at the Ryman Auditorium in January 2001, leading to their eventual induction as Opry members on September 17, 2013. Their best-known song, "Wagon Wheel," which Secor completed from an unfinished Bob Dylan fragment and co-credited to Dylan, was certified platinum in 2013 and later double platinum, and became a hit for Darius Rucker. The band’s lineup has changed many times though Secor still leads the ensemble.
