Kari Larson

Kari Larson is a guitarist and mandolinist. She came out of the San Francisco Bay Area acoustic music scene and studied classical guitar at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She played with Sidesaddle, the all-woman bluegrass band from Saratoga, California, and also worked in rockabilly bands, Jewish and Italian groups, and Baroque ensembles. She moved to Minnesota in 1994 to study instrument building and repair in Red Wing. She began performing with Minneapolis guitarist Dakota Dave Hull in late 1995. The duo, Hull & Larson, often played twin guitars, with Larson also on mandolin, ukulele and resonator instruments, and drew on folk, pop, jazz, world and classical music. They recorded three albums and stopped performing together regularly at the end of 2001.
