Kanawa

Labels / Record Companies

Kanawha Records was founded by Ken Davidson in West Virginia in the early 1960s to document old-time fiddle music. It scored its biggest success with an album that brought legendary fiddler Clark Kessinger back to public attention. After a stint in Florida, the label moved to Dayton, Ohio, and began recording bluegrass, including LPs by the Hagan Brothers (1974), Dorsey Harvey, and Ron Thomason of the Dry Branch Fire Squad. It also released the Falls City Ramblers' third album.
