Jim McCall
Jim McCall (1930–February 9, 2010) was an American bluegrass lead singer and guitarist. Originally from Virginia, he collaborated extensively with Hall of Fame mandolinist Earl Taylor, playing in Earl Taylor & the Stoney Mountain Boys. During the late 1960s, he performed as part of the house band at the Ken-Mill club in Cincinnati alongside Paul Mullins, Benny Birchfield, and Harley Gabbard. In 1973, he partnered with banjoist Vernon "Junior" McIntyre and vocalist Katie Laur to co-found The Appalachian Grass. He later fronted his own touring band, the Walker Mountain Boys. His son, Dwight McCall, went on to perform professionally with the Country Gentlemen and J.D. Crowe and the New South.
