Jim Hurst
Jim Hurst (born James Edward Hurst) is an American bluegrass and country guitarist, singer-songwriter, and educator recognized for his highly technical fingerstyle and flatpicking execution. He moved to Nashville in the late 1980s, tracking session guitar and backing vocals for mainstream country artists such as Trisha Yearwood, Holly Dunn, and Sara Evans. By the mid-1990s, he transitioned to acoustic music as a member of Claire Lynch's Front Porch String Band, later partnering with bassist Missy Raines to form an acclaimed acoustic duet that garnered back-to-back International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Guitar Player of the Year awards in 2001 and 2002.
