Holly Dunn

Holly Dunn (August 22, 1957–November 14, 2016) was an American country and roots music singer, songwriter, and producer. Born in San Antonio, Texas, she performed with regional folk and choral groups before relocating to Nashville, Tennessee, to work as a demo vocalist and staff songwriter alongside her brother, Chris Waters. She signed with MTM Records where her original signature ballad "Daddy's Hands" (1986) earned two Grammy nominations. Her mainstream success deepened following her transition to Warner Bros. Records, where she secured consecutive Billboard number-one hits with "Are You Ever Gonna Love Me" (1989) and "You Really Had Me Going" (1990). She was inducted as a member of the Grand Ole Opry in 1989, won the ACM Top New Female Vocalist award, the CMA Horizon Award, and then retired from the commercial music industry in 2003 to focus on fine art painting.
