Highstrung
Bands / Ensembles
Highstrung (1989–1997) was a bluegrass band from Orlando, Florida. Mandolinist Jerry Nettuno formed it in 1989 as a trio that played mainly at Walt Disney World. The band's lineup grew to Keith Tew (guitar, lead vocals), Nettuno (mandolin), Terry Campbell (bass) and Steve Pye (banjo). In 1993 Highstrung won the Southeast Regional of the Pizza Hut International Bluegrass Showdown, and in 1994 it released its first album, Stop Look and Listen, on Pinecastle Records. The band broke up in 1997. Tew formed the duo the Tews with his wife, Danette, and later joined Rhonda Vincent and the Rage. Nettuno moved to Montana in 1998 and formed the band Deep River, and later Kane's River, with John Lowell and Julie Elkins.
