Herb Remington

Herbert Leroy Remington (June 9, 1926—October 27, 2018) was a Western swing and Hawaiian lap steel guitarist. Born in Mishawaka, Indiana, he studied Hawaiian style steel guitar before relocating to California. He rose to prominence in 1946 as a member of Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys, recording the instrumental showcase "Boot Heel Drag". Remington subsequently performed and recorded with Hank Penny, Ray Whitley, and the River Road Boys, and he field-tested early equipment for Leo Fender. He wrote the steel guitar standard "Remington's Ride." He was inducted into the International Steel Guitar Hall of Fame in 1979, and established his own manufacturing company, Remington Steel Guitars, in 1986.
