Hakanson Family Band

Bands / Ensembles

The Hakanson Family Band was a bluegrass family band from the Pacific Northwest, made up of Rob Hakanson (mandolin), his wife Kathy Fetty Hakanson (bass), and their children Ellie, Amy and Henry Hakanson in various combinations over the years. Ellie, the oldest, began Suzuki violin at age six and also played in Portland's Metropolitan Youth Symphony. The family was supplemented by other musicians at times including Jered Widman on guitar, and Jeff Wold on banjo. Ellie later toured for five years with Jeff Scroggins and Colorado and then joined Missy Raines and Allegheny after relocating to Nashville. Amy later pursued nyckelharpa which she played in Darol Anger's ensemble Pas de Cinq.
