Gus Foster

Gus Foster was an American country music radio announcer, producer, and booking agent. In the early 1940s, he launched and hosted Gus Foster's Texas Roundup, a highly popular, live musical broadcast on clear-channel station KRLD that acted as a direct regional forerunner to the famous Big D Jamboree. Beyond announcing, Foster functioned as a central talent scout and manager for the show's backing ensemble, the Texas Roundup, recruiting elite national talent to Dallas, while helping master fiddlers Howard "Howdy" Forrester and Robert "Georgia Slim" Rutland perfect the legendary "twin fiddling" style that defined the band's post-World War II regional sound.
