Ernest V. "Pop" Stoneman

Ernest V. "Pop" Stoneman (1893–1968) was an American singer, guitarist, harmonica and autoharp player from Carroll County, Virginia, one of the first country recording stars. His 1925 recording "The Titanic" was a major hit, and he recorded at the 1927 Bristol Sessions. With his wife Hattie and their children, including Scotty, Roni, and Donna, he led the Stoneman Family (later shortened to the Stonemans). Based in the Washington, D.C., area, The Stonemans won the CMA Vocal Group of the Year award in 1967.
