Eldred Hill

Eldred Hill is a bluegrass mandolinist, singer, and songwriter, who formed Patent Pending, a bluegrass band based in West Virginia. The band's core lineup of Hill, guitarist Rusty Williams, banjo player Jim Steptoe and bassist Leigh Taylor appears on its recordings from its 1979 debut EP onward, with fiddlers including David McLaughlin rotating through the band. Hill wrote the gospel song "Barabbas," which Patent Pending first recorded on an early LP and re-recorded in 1998 for its gospel CD A Child of God. The band continued recording into the 2000s.
