Beth Weil

Beth Weil (Born September 5, 1951) is an American bluegrass and folk double bassist and graphic designer. Raised in Berkeley, California, she split her early career between working as a graphic artist and playing bass in the San Francisco Bay Area roots music scene. In 1979, she co-founded Grant Street String Band with Laurie Lewis and later joined the Good Ol' Persons, performing alongside Kathy Kallick, John Reischman, and Sally Van Meter. In addition to her bluegrass affiliations, she toured and recorded with regional Cajun and folk acts, including session work on the Savoy Doucet Cajun Band's Two Step D'Amede. Her musical career was cut short in June 1991 when she suffered a severe cerebral hemorrhage while on stage with the Good Ol' Persons, leaving her permanently disabled.
