Argen Hicks

Argen Hicks (born February 1956) is a bassist and singer from Georgia. She is the middle of five Hicks sisters, a musical family from Clarkesville, Georgia, who sang together as the Hicks Sisters. A photograph in Murphy Hicks Henry's book Pretty Good for a Girl shows Argen, Murphy, Nancy, and Laurie performing as the Hicks Sisters at the Mt. Laurel Festival in Clarkesville in 1975. That same year, Murphy and her husband, Red Henry, formed the duo Red and Murphy and moved to Florida. Argen sometimes joined them on bass in the band that became Red and Murphy & Co., and her youngest sister, Laurie Hicks, later took over the bass. The sisters, including Claire Hicks, recorded the gospel album With Sweet Accord. Outside music, she taught language arts to gifted students at North Habersham Middle School.
