Advocates for Women in Science, Engineering, and Mathematics (AWSEM)

AWSEM is a club program that pairs girls interested in science and technology with female undergraduate mentors studying STEM. Its sessions offer hands-on activities and an introduction to careers where women have traditionally been underrepresented. The program grew out of Oregon's Saturday Academy, which listed AWSEM as an after-school project linking middle school girls with role models. It is now offered through Oregon State University's STEM Academy in the College of Engineering.
